Pokey LaFarge Hometown Show
With an 1920's Blues inspired sound and aesthetic, Pokey LaFarge is the real deal for anyone who loves to shake their hips. Make no mistake, even though Pokey has a nostalgic perspective, his tunes are timeless.
He hails from St. Louis, Missouri - the Home of the Blues, where the music traditions are second only to barbecue depending on who you ask (most of the folks I chatted with seemed to have a lot of opinions about smoked meats, in particular). I had the pleasure to see him perform on his home turf, and even got a chance to share a drink with him after the show. He is getting ready to start working on a new album which I'm sure will not disappoint.
Pokey and his band are card-carrying touring musicians coming to a city near you, so be sure to check them out if you ever have the chance.
